Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden


Acclaimed as one of the great botanical gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain.

This breath-taking backdrop of nature , at the foot of one of the 7 wonders of the world, boasts a MOYO restaurant with beautiful vistas, entertainment and cuisine composed of the best modern African produce.

There is an entrance fee to visit the majestic garden, tours and a variety of activities available.

  • Standard rates for all adult visitors R270

    From countries outside Africa and SADC

  • Discounted fee for South African Residents & SADC Nationals South African Residents & SADC residents R110

    18 years and older (with ID/proof of residency)*

  • Discounted fee for African residents outside SADC* R150

    18 years and older (with ID/proof of residency)

  • Students/learners of 18 years and older from a South African institute R60

    (with student card)

  • All children from 6 to 17 years R40
  • All children under 6 years FREE
  • South African residents over the age of 60 (with ID) FREE

    Free on Tuesdays except on public holidays

  • BotSoc members (with membership card) FREE
  • SANBI membership FREE

    Excluding special events)

* To claim the discounted entry fee, South African residents can show their ID, a certified paper copy of their ID, an electronic copy of their ID or their driver’s licence.

SANBI Gardens Membership Prices

SANBI membership  is offered at:

  • R800 per annum (adult South Africans older than 18)
  • R600 per annum (students older than 18 registered at a South African tertiary institution – valid student card to be display on entry)
  • R400 per annum (children aged six to 17)
  • Children younger than six (6) do not require membership to enter the national botanical gardens and those under the age of two (2) enter free at the national zoological gardens
  • Pensioners (60 and above) require membership to enter every day except on those days when they may enter for free on Tuesdays in most gardens.
